The family and consumer science department's seventh- and eighth-grade interior design students are working on their designer's challenge projects. Each student has designed a bedroom complete with a one-half scale blueprint, furniture, accessories and samples of paint and floor coverings.
There is no school for students Thursday or Friday.
Parent-teacher conferences are from noon to 3 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday. Parents are encouraged to attend.
The children in Ms. Tyler's intensive needs class are learning about community relations, social skills and life skills through its coffee business. These skills meet the students' goals and objectives for their IEPs and alternate assessments. Interested community businesses that would like to help sponsor the class or have questions about it, can call 260-2548 or write to 426 W. Redoubt Ave., Soldotna, AK 99669.
