Skyview crowned King of Mountain

The Skyview High School wrestling team took the team title in the King of the Mountain tournament hosted by Seward.

The Panthers scored 213.5 team points, outdistancing Soldotna, which took second with 162.5 points.

The Panthers had four individual champions crowned at the meet. Cody Phipps took the title at 112 pounds, winning by pin over Soldotna's Luke Cuifo.

Jake Savely notched a win at 130 pounds, pinning Ninilchik's Steven Miller in the final, Nate Morse won at 145 pounds with a win by decision over Soldotna's Colten Goracke, and Vance Gaddis won at 171 pounds, pinning Soldotna's Todd Ghormley.

Justin Rainwater took second at 189 for the Panthers.

Soldotna had individual champions in Shawn Weigle, a winner by decision at 215, and Josh Brantley, a winner by pin at 275.

Monte Garroutte took the title at 125 pounds for the Homer Mariners and Darian Draper won at 152 pounds for the host Seahawks.

Kenai's top finisher was Jacob La Shot, who lost by decision in the championship round.
