FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Police arrested an 18-year-old after he smashed into a car early Friday morning with a snowmobile taken from Northern Power Sports.

Police said Reginald Foster formerly worked at the dealership.

Foster is accused of driving the snowmobile north in a southbound lane on South Cushman Street, where he collided with a motorist who had pulled over to avoid him.

A police officer saw Foster driving the snowmobile on the street. Foster accelerated as he went by the officer, then ran into the vehicle, police said.

Foster fled on foot but the officer caught up with him.

Foster was charged with reckless driving and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
