HUSLIA (AP) -- The body of a man from the village of Huslia has been recovered from the Koyukuk River.

Hudson Sam Jr., 27, died when his snowmachine broke through ice on the river Saturday, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers said Sam managed to help his passenger, 15-year-old Ivan Vent, out of the water, but Sam disappeared beneath the surface. Vent was cold and wet but otherwise unharmed.

Searchers found Sam's body shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday.
