ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man has been arrested for the 1998 murder of a woman at an Anchorage mental health clinic.
Anchorage police said Alexander Eckhardt, 25, was charged Friday with first-degree murder in the death of Elouise Payne. He was being held at the Anchorage jail on $100,000 bail.
Investigators said Eckhardt murdered Payne on Sept. 26, 1998 in the Mental Health Consumers of Alaska Clubhouse. The building served as a gathering place to provide support for those with mental illnesses.
Police did not say what led to Eckhardt's arrest four years after the crime.
