AMCC sells collection of Alaska recipes

The Alaska Marine Conservation Council is selling "Marine Cuisine," a unique cookbook featuring recipes from fishing families along Alaska's coastline.

The cookbook features more than 65 recipes for a variety of seafood and includes sauces, side dishes and desserts. Learn how to make "Buck's Beer Battered Halibut," "Jackie's Bering Sea Crab Quiche," "Southeast Barbecue Lingcod" or "Red Fox Salmonberry Liquore."

Intermingled with the recipes are profiles of coastal communities and AMCC members, photographs and original artwork, as well as facts about Alaska marine life.

The AMCC is a community-based organization whose members include fishers, subsistence harvesters, conservationists, small business owners and others whose ways of life depend on a healthy marine ecosystem.

The council works to minimize bycatch, protect habitat, prevent overfishing and promote clean, community-based fishing opportunities.

The cookbook costs $12.95, and all proceeds will be used to advance the AMCC's mission to protect the health and diversity of the Alaska marine ecosystem.

For more information, or to buy the cookbook, call the council at (907) 227-5357 or visit
