Nikiski resident John E. Kroker died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in a fire at his residence in Nikiski. He was 43.
Private family services will be held in Oregon.
Mr. Kroker was born Feb. 27, 1961, in Lebanon, Ore., where he was raised and educated. He had spent most of his life in Oregon and worked in the mills and in the woods in Oregon prior to moving to Alaska. He moved to Nikiski in 1992 and worked as a maintenance mechanic and truck driver for Ocean Beauty Seafoods for several years.
"John was a quiet, gentle man. His needs were simple. He loved his family, friends and Alaska," his family said.
Mr. Kroker is survived by his father and stepmother, John Mearl and Jeanne Kroker of Lebanon; sister, Pamela J. Kroker of Lebanon; stepsister, Elizabeth Duell of Eugene, Ore.; stepbrother, Brad Duell of Salem, Ore.; and numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
