CPGH awarded program certification

Central Peninsula General Hospital has been awarded program certification for its cardiac rehabilitation program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Certification recognizes those programs rigorously reviewed by a national board and found to meet the outlined essential requirements for standards of care. CPGH has provided cardiac rehabilitation services since 1993.

Winter gear swap to be held

There will be a winter gear swap Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Homer High School. The Homer High School ski team will conduct a ski waxing clinic from 2 to 3 p.m. for $5. The clinic fee will go to the ski team. For more information, call 235-6018.

Reunion scheduled

The USS Saint Paul (CA-73) Association will hold its 10th reunion in Portland, Ore., starting Aug. 27. The organization is trying to contact former crew members. For more information, contact George M. Takis Jr. at (770) 393-3185.

Homer Community Schools announcements

Baby and children CPR and first aid is being offered Saturday for $85. The class is geared for child caregivers and people working in youth programs such as the Boys and Girls Club. It is taught through the American Heart Association.

The adult basketball league begins Nov. 12. Team lists and fees need to be given to the community schools office by Nov. 6.

The Landscapes: Acrylic Painting class date has been changed to Nov. 27 and 28. The Snowmobile Safety and Maintenance class has been rescheduled to Dec. 6.

The following classes and activities have space available: Healthy Holiday Cooking, Marketing Your Small Business on a Tight Budget, Jelly Jar Basket, Small Round Wicker Basket, Mini Oval or Round Basket and Small Wicker Serving Tray Basket (for children).

Parents and children can team up to shoot free throws and win a Thanksgiving turkey. The age groups are 5 to 6, 7 to 8, 9 to 10 and 11 to 12. There is a $5 per team entry fee. Other prizes are available.

People interested in being a tutor or in need of a tutor can call the community schools office.
