Alyeska Pipeline to move to BP Building

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.'s corporate staff in Anchorage will be moving from its current Bragaw Street location into the BP Building next year.

Alyeska spokesman Mike Heatwole told Petroleum News Alaska that the firm's lease on its current facility expires next year. Alyeska looked at several properties, he said, and the available space in the BP building made the most economic sense.

BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. spokesman Paul Laird said that BP has been consolidating its space within the building since January, when President Steve Marshall told the Alaska Support Industry Alliance that, along with cutting costs, the company would also be subletting office space.

Laird said lease terms with Alyeska were not finalized, but that the space involved was floors two and eight through 10, about 71,000 square feet, one-quarter of BP's rentable space. He said there was no timetable set, but said those floors of the building have been empty for a few months.
