Ballot issue on chamber luncheon menu

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its luncheon at noon today at the Riverside House. The speaker will be Scott Heyworth on Ballot Measure 3, the All-Alaska Gasline Project.

In addition, Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens will give a special presentation. For more information, call the chamber at 262-9814.

Book club meeting planned

The Kenai Community Library Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. today in the conference room. The group will discuss "Passage to India," by E.M. Forester. The book club welcomes new members who enjoy reading and discussing what they have read with others.

Chamber to hold luncheon

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will hold its luncheon at noon Wednesday at Paradisos. It is $10.50 inclusive. The luncheon is open to the public.

Salmon task force meeting changes time

The public hearing of the Joint Legislative Salmon Industry Task Force on Friday has had a time change. It will occur from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building in Soldotna. Additionally, there will be another public hearing Nov. 6 in Homer from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Homer City Council chambers.

Sew Saturday scheduled

Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna will have its "Sew Saturday" from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The church is one-fourth mile from the Sterling Highway on the Kenai Spur Highway.

It will cost $15 and includes a lunch of a croissant sandwich, mixed green salad, soda and desert. R.S.V.P. by Wednesday. Space is limited, so reserve early by calling Fran Stetson at 262-4142, ext. 2.

Church to hold rally

The Aurora Heights Assembly of God will hold a Ministry 4 Kids Rally with Phil and Claudene Young and friends. It will be held at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at the church in Nikiski.

Roundtable meeting slated Nov. 7

The Small Business Development Center is sponsoring a "Women's Roundtable Meeting" from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 7 at the CARTS Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road across from Save- U-More. This meeting will talk about finding money and getting started in the financial process.

There is no charge and everyone is welcome. All women are encouraged to join the center for a brown bag lunch. For more information and registration, call 262-7497.

College to present vocal recital

The Kenai Peninsula College Sunday Showcase presents "Popera," from pop to opera, a vocal recital featuring Judy Russell, accompanied by Maria Allison, and with special guest Eric Larson. It will be at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at KPC, with a reception following the concert.

SPCA to hold spaghetti feed

The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of the Kenai Peninsula Inc. will hold a spaghetti feed and silent auction from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Riverside House in Soldotna. The proceeds will be used to benefit all community animals, but especially those that have been neglected, harmed and abused.

The cost is $15 per person. If possible, call to pre-purchase tickets at 262-8550.
