Woman attacked by unknown men in truck on Gaswell Road

Posted: Wednesday, October 29, 2003

Alaska State Troopers on Tuesday described a recent late-night assault on Gaswell Road near Soldotna as an isolated incident.

At two minutes past midnight Friday, a Soldotna woman reported she was out taking a walk when three men in a pickup truck offered her a ride.

She declined and the men allegedly assaulted her alongside the road.

The woman was able to escape and took herself to Central Peninsula General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was treated and released.

The victim did not know her attackers, according to Trooper Mark Pearson, and no suspects have been identified.

Pearson said troopers are looking for the red Chevrolet pickup the men were driving and for possible information about the suspects.

Although the central Kenai Peninsula is a relatively safe and remote area, Pearson said it would not be a bad idea for people to walk in pairs, especially when it is dark.

Anyone with additional information about the incident is asked to call troopers in Soldotna at 262-4453.
