Sears Elementary

Mrs. Knudsen and Mrs. Lafferty's class entry in the Alaska Park's Art Contest a collage titled, "The Wonder of Hadrosaurs" won first place. It will be displayed in the Anchorage Museum's Sue exhibit through January.

The annual Halloween parade will be today. Parents and families are invited to attend.

Parent-teacher conferences will be Thursday and Friday. Sign-up sheets are available from classroom teachers. There will be no school on these days.

The book fair will be held during conferences. There is a large variety of books and gifts.

The Family Science Festival will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The gym will be transformed into a science center of hands-on exhibits, activities and demonstrations. Students and their families can enjoy investigating science at their own pace in a friendly and inviting environment. Activities may include physics, chemistry, electricity, light and optics, logic puzzles and critters. It is sponsored by the Discovery science magnet classroom.

Picture retakes will be Nov. 6.
