Good day to all of my Nikiski neighbors.

We can no longer ignore the low dipping temperatures and slight snow accumulation. Please keep a look out for kids on Halloween and enjoy All-Hallows Eve.

Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour Sunday morning.

Nikiski North Star students enjoyed spirit week last week and the QSP fundraising assembly. Through the fundraiser, more than $21,000 was earned and $9,000 will go directly to the school. Great job to all those who were a part of the event.

Blood pressure checks will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough will hold a community meeting at 7 p.m. today at the senior center. The meeting will discuss a list of two capital project requests from our unincorporated community for the 2008 Capital Projects Priorities List for the upcoming legislative session. The Strut Your Mutt 2007 Howl'oween Dog Costume Contest will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday Halloween at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Dogs must be people and dog friendly and on a leash at all times. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.

North Kenai Yoga will resume weekly classes at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Nikiski pool classroom. The classes are for beginning through intermediate levels, for all ages. For more information, call Virginia at 776-3495.

The senior center will hold a fall bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area offers several programs to community members held at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. For more information on the following programs, call Tammy at 776-8800.

* Adult open gym will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $1.

* Toddler time will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $1 per child.

* Home-school gym time will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $1 per child.

* A teen center will be held Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 8 p.m. The cost is $1 or yearly memberships available.

* Full swing golf is offered Monday through Saturday.

The Scrappy Crafters will meet at the senior center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17. The meeting is an open session format and participants are urged to bring projects. For more information, call 776-7654.
