CIRCAC committee meeting scheduled

The Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council's Prevention, Response, Operations and Safety Committee is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. today at the CIRCAC office at 910 Highland Ave. in Kenai. The public is invited.

Soldotna chamber to meet today

Chris Degernes of the Alaska Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation will be the guest speaker at today's Soldotna Chamber of Commerce luncheon meeting. The meeting begins at noon at the Riverside House. The public is invited.

Violence awareness quilt on display

As proclaimed by President George W. Bush and Gov. Tony Knowles, special attention is focused on the issues of domestic violence during October -- Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Locally, Women's Resource and Crisis Center clients have provided the artwork for a quilt, which was stitched together by WRCC staff. The quilt will be displayed for public viewing at Kenai Peninsula College today and Wednesday.

Logo design contest announced

The Kenai Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring a contest for a logo design. The logo will be used on district highway signs and placards used for public displays. A $200 award will be given to the winning entry. The logo should depict the geography and mission of the district. Amateur artists and students are encouraged to participate.
