Chad Thomas Gorder

Soldotna resident Chad Thomas Gorder died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at his home. He was 32.

At the request of the family, a private ceremony will be held for family and friends.

Mr. Gorder was born in Kalispell, Mont., on Jan. 4, 1974, where he lived until 1981 when he moved with his family to Soldotna. He graduated from Skyview High School in 1992 and served for four years in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He also served for four years in the Alaska National Guard and remained passionate about his country. He was a member of the Local Teamsters Union 959 and worked on the North Slope. He was married to Kaci Gorder.

“We will miss Chad’s charming smile, his eyes, and his sense of humor. We wish him peace on his journey home. Along with his Kaci he shared a passion for animal rescue — dogs and cats. He loved music; working with computers; Alaska — the outdoors; his family — especially his younger brothers, Tommy and Jimmy,” said his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kaci; mother and stepfather, Debi and Tom Honer of Soldotna; father, Tom Gorder of Kalispell; brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Stacy Gorder of Omaha, Neb.; and brothers, Tommy and Jimmy Honer of Soldotna.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made in his memory to Alaska’s Extended Life Animal Shelter at P.O. Box 8051, Nikiski, AK 99635 or the Kenai Animal Shelter at 210 Fidalgo, Ave., Kenai, AK 99611.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
