Some funding should be dedicated to wildlife, wild places
I live in Alaska because I love the beauty of this state. I love enjoying the outdoors by camping, hiking, fishing, and kayaking. I am concerned about the changes predicted, not to mention the ones we are seeing due to climate change, mean for these activities. Climate warming will impact all the activities I love to do in Alaska. It will also impact the economy of Alaska that depends on the tourism industry. Do we want to jeopardize the reasons we live here by doing nothing about global warming?

Mayor issues large pay raises: Carey says extra responsibilities warrant increased wages
Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Dave Carey's chief of staff and special assistant earn a combined $189,817 a year. Each position received $20,000 raises since Carey took office last October.

Sherman Dale Green
Longtime Nikiski resident Sherman Dale Green died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, with his family by his side at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 56.
