Church plans harvest carnival

The Kenai New Life Assembly of God Church's annual harvest carnival will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church at 209 Princess St.

The event offers a safe evening of fun for children ages 3 to 11, with games and prizes, candy, food, a cake walk and the Jumping Dinosaur. Game tickets are 25 cents each at the door.

Parents are asked to bring their children for an evening of fun.

Halloween night event today

The Soldotna Church of God will host an indoor "Truth Time Machine" event from 6 to 9 p.m. this evening at the church on the corner of Redoubt Avenue and Binkley Street.

Harvest party tonight

All are invited to the Funny River Bible Church harvest party from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight.

The party will include a costume contest, cake walk, food, fun, games and prizes.

To get to the church, take Funny River Road to Rabbit Run, turn right to Browns Lake Road and turn left. The church is about one mile down on the left.

Biblical seminar planned

Peninsula Christian Center will host speaker Art Mathias of Wellsprings Ministries of Alaska at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday and Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Mathias has traveled to many churches presenting the truths found in Biblical Foundations of Freedom.

Those who attend will learn how to have victory over bitterness, self-hatred, anger, jealousy, envy, fear and the occult in their lives.

In addition, at 10 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, Mathias will provide training for those who desire to minister to others.

The seminar will provide practical, hands-on teaching on how to reach others with the Gospel.

Both seminars are free of charge and all are welcome. Child care will not be available.

Bluegrass services this Sunday

Bluegrass musicians from around the Kenai Peninsula will gather Sunday to pick, grin and play a little Gospel music.

In celebration of All Saints Day, the players and singers have been invited to lend their style of music to the services at Christ Lutheran Church.

Guitarists, mandolin, fiddle and banjo players and singers will share old favorites. All are invited to come and enjoy the worship and the music. Services will be at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Love INC annual meeting slated

The fall gathering and annual meeting of Love INC will be Nov. 8 at Ingrid's Inn in Kasilof.

A Love INC tune-up is scheduled for 10 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.

The group will set objectives and plan strategies for the coming year from 1 to 3:30 p.m. and elect board members and review the past year at 4 p.m.

Lutefisk and lefse dinner planned

The annual lutefisk and lefse dinner will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at Christ Lutheran Church, Mile 1/4 of the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna.

New church to start in Soldotna

The Matrix Church is going to start on Nov. 9 at 4:30 pm.

Matrix giving birth to something new is a new kind of church delivery specifically targeting single parents and children, but it also is going to reach out to young couples with children and grandparents with grandchildren.

The Matrix template uses pop culture, puppets, lip syncs to popular tunes, drama and electronic techniques to communicate spiritual values. The motto for this new church is, "This is not your mother's church."

Matrix will provide free snacks and lunch fixings along with some gas cards. Initially, services will be monthly, with more services added as the Matrix grows.

Clothes2Go open Wednesdays

The Inlet Faith formerly Aurora Heights Assembly of God Clothes2Go is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays to meet people's clothing needs.

Clothes2Go is at the church on the corner of McGahan and Marie avenues, near Mile 27 of the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski. For more information, call 776-8723.

Christian poetry sought

The Christian Fine Arts Society is offering a $1,000 grand prize in a special religious poetry contest, free to everyone.

Fifty prizes will be awarded totaling almost $5,000.

To enter, send one poem of 21 lines or less to Free Poetry Contest, 9588 Thornbush Lane, Fishers, IN 46038. People also may enter online at The deadline is Nov. 8.

Poems may be written on any subject as long as there is a spiritual reference.

Entrants' names and addresses must appear on the page with the poem. A winners list will be sent to all who enter.
