"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" Mark 1:15.
Jesus is the giver of good things. Kings know how to give and he is the king of kings.
He knows how to do the thing right. When he gives water to the thirsty, they never thirst again. When he gives sight to the blind, they can see the way to eternal life.
In order to love people, we must love the way he loves. We must see people the way he sees them, not making assumptions before we even know them.
We must relate to people in loving ways. Jesus told us to love our neighbor as ourselves, to love fellow believers and our families, and to show mercy even to our enemies, becoming perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.
We must love people the way he loves us, being kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as he forgave us.
It has been a most rewarding experience for me to serve as the director of Love In the Name of Christ.
I believe I have learned how to love people better through my time here.
I have seen transformations in people's lives that can only come from the one who loves perfectly through his people. I am looking forward to what God has for me next.
I don't know exactly what that is, but I do know that I am a child of God fearfully, wonderfully, creatively created by his loving hand.
I have given this life that he gave me, back to him. I cannot claim credit for the good or expect to be perfect, but accept him as the one who is.
My self worth is not in what I can do or not do, but in the truth that I am his. I have a purpose, a role to fulfill, a mission to accomplish.
I view my life as a time to get to know him better as he reveals himself to me through this purpose and role, and a time that I can allow him to reveal himself to others through me now.
I choose to serve God alone, to seek him with all my heart and mind. This is my purpose of living.
I desire to seek and follow God's pattern, not the world's, and to renew my mind daily by looking into his word and letting my mind be transformed. Then I will know what God's good, pleasing and perfect will is.
I hunger to know and tap into the rich potential of my God-given gifts to affect my family, friends, church and community for eternal glory.
For I was entrusted with many gifts in order that I may touch many lives.
Therefore, in all I do, may I be an imitator of God as a dearly loved child and live a life of love, just as Jesus loved me and gave himself up for me as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God, and may the body of Christ on the Kenai Peninsula continue to do this more than ever through the work of Love In the Name of Christ.
Janine Espy was the executive director of Love INC, until today. A new director has not been named.
