Squirt B's have big weekend

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association Squirt B team played four games last weekend, at the Soldotna Sports Center, winning three and tying one.

The Ice Hawks opened the weekend with a 3-3 tie against Fairbanks. Goalie William Granger made 19 saves while Josh Kerkvliet, Sean Endsley and Morgan Cunningham scored goals. Michael Gabriel and Morgan Cunningham earned assists.

The KPHA squad defeated the Anchorage Bulldogs 5-0 as Dagen Walton, Endsley, Zack Sonnichsen, Zack Zulkanycz and Hali Carter scored goals. Kerkvliet, Gabriel, Carter and Jacob Iverson notched assists and Granger earned the shutout.

The Ice Hawks defeated Anchorage Bulldogs 5-1 in a rematch with goals from Gabriel, Matt Boulette, Zulkanycz and Cunningham, assists from Sonnichsen, Gabriel and Walton and eight saves by Granger.

KPHA made it a clean sweep of the Anchorage Bulldogs with a 5-0 win to close out the weekend. Granger earned the shutout while Tyler Cue and Endsley had two goals. Zulkanycz had a goal and an assist and Carter had two assists.

The KPHA Squirt B's are coached by Mike Boulette and assistant coaches Indy Walton, Tim Iverson and Chris Sonnichsen.
