'Monster Factory' held today

The Kenai Community Library is hosting The Monster Factory family story time with stories, crafts and surprises from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today for ages 5 and older.

Library meeting canceled

The Kenai Community Library Commission meeting in Kenai scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday has been canceled.

Bazaar, bake sale set

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will hold its annual fall bazaar and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at the center. Ceramics, glassware, jewelry, wood and baked goods are some of the items that will be for sale. A snack bar will open during the sale.

Swim team registration begins

The Peninsula Piranhas swim team will begin registration from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the KCHS commons for returning swimmers or swimmers who have reached level four or above at the Kenai Central High School summer swim lessons.

Tryouts and registration for new swimmers will begin at 5 p.m. Nov. 8. For more information, call coach Will at 283-7476.

Bazaar fund-raiser scheduled

The Skyview Hockey Booster Club will hold its third annual hockey benefit bazaar from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 7. Booth space still is available. The cost is $50 for both days and includes a table and two chairs. All proceeds will benefit the hockey team. For more information or to reserve a booth, call Barb at 262-2325.

Foundation accepting Lifeline funds

The Kenai Peninsula Foundation is accepting contributions to the Osmar Lifeline Fund, created by Per Osmar to help publicize the emergency lifesaving response service for senior citizens and people who are disabled.

According to June Stein, Bridges in Soldotna will work in conjunction with Wells Fargo Bank to coordinate the fund.

Tax-deductible donations may be sent to Osmar Lifeline Fund, c/o Kenai Peninsula Foundation, P.O. Box 1612, Soldotna, AK 99669.

Road maintenance meeting set

Rep. Paul Seaton will moderate a meeting between residents living along the North Fork Road corridor and officials from the state of Alaska at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Anchor Point Senior Center, Mile .25 of Milo Fritz Road.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the complaints and desires of area residents in regard to state maintenance of the road and to clarify the state's current and future maintenance and upgrade schedule. For more information, call Louie Flora at 235-2921.

Childbirth classes scheduled

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold prepared childbirth classes at the hospital. The cost is $75 per class. Classes need to be prepaid. For more information or to register, call 714-4788.

Nov. 12 and 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday; and

Dec. 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday for six weeks.
