Nathan W. Irwin
Former 20-year Soldotna resident Nathan W. Irwin died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in Grayland, Wash. He was 70.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Oct. 26, at Whiteside Family Mortuary in Aberdeen, Wash.
Mr. Irwin was born Aug., 14, 1936, in Gregory, Ark., to Walter Nathan and Rose V. (Stewart) Irwin. He was raised in Coquille, Ore., and went to Coquille High School. Mr. Irwin was in the U.S. Coast Guard and Navy for 20 years. He worked for Era Aviation and was in the Air Sea Rescue in the military in California. He also was a member of the Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
“He enjoyed golf, fishing, travel and keeping in contact with many dear friends by phone,” his family said.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys (Hoen) of Soldotna; sons Bill and Bret Irwin; daughter, Jacqie Irwin; brothers, Jack and Calvin; sisters, Nina Ritchie and Marge Cagle; and former wife, Nancy Edwards of Lacey, Wash.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to Harbors Home Health and Hospice, 201 7th. St., Hoquiam, WA 98550.
