Flu shots available

* Alaska VA will provide walk-in flu shot clinics for veterans from 8 to 10:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai VA Clinic. For more information, call 283-2231.

* Central Peninsula Hospital will hold a drive-through flu shot clinic from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Three hundred flu shots will be available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must be at least 18 years old. When arriving for the flu shot clinic, participants are asked to enter the hospital grounds from Fireweed and follow the signs through to the clinic location and exit the hospital grounds onto Marydale Avenue. Electronics recycling offered

There will be an electronics recycling event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Office machines, AV equipment, computers and other electronic devices may be recycled. For more information, call Jan 262-5098.

Dessert auction, play fundraiser

The Skyview High School Drama, Debate and Forensics Club will host "Skyview Spectacular Spectacular" at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Triumvirate Theater in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna.

One-act plays, stories, poetry and dessert auction are planned. Admission prices are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Proceeds benefit the club. For more information, call Debbie Tressler at 260-1300.

Historical society to meet

The Kenai Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday downstairs at the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant.

Al Hershberger will show a one hour documentary "The Run" produced by Mike Letzring. The program is about annual salmon runs in Cook Inlet. George Jackinsky and Frank Mullen are featured.

Historical footage of salmon fishing and processing is included, and some of the "conflicts" between sports and commercial fishing are shown. The program was made available by Dave Letzrig, Mike's father. Dave is with the Kasilof Historical Society. It is open to the public.

Beta Sigma Phi tea planned

Beta Sigma Phi will hold a preferential tea for new members at 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna. Beta girls past and present may attend.
