Parenting teens class slated

The Kenai Peninsula Community Care Center Family Support Program will present a video-based parenting program titled "Active Parenting of Teens" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays beginning this week for eight weeks in the Borealis Room at the Central Peninsula General Hospital.

The program will explore the issues of effective communication, the importance of relationship development between parents and teens, ideas for raising teens in today's world, alcohol, substance abuse and sexual behavior.

There is no fee. Class materials are provided. For more information, call 283-7635.

Childbirth classes scheduled

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold several prepared childbirth classes at the hospital. The cost is $75 per class. Classes need be prepaid. For more information or to register, call 714-4788.

Nov. 12 and 13 from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday; and

Dec. 1 from 7 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday for six weeks.

Auction fund-raiser set

An auction fund-raiser to benefit a nursing education scholarship fund at Kenai Peninsula College will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Kenai Citizens Senior Center. Hors d'oeuvres, wine, entertainment, auctions and prize giveaways are some of the planned activities.

The cost is $35. Tickets are available at Heritage Place in Soldotna and the KPC director's office.

Safe Sitter classes offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold Safe Sitter classes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 21 at the hospital. Children must be 11 years old at the time of class and be preregistered.

Soroptimist selling discount cards

Soroptimist International of the Twin Cities is selling discount cards to benefit its scholarship funds and other charitable activities.

The cards contain discounts for many area businesses and are valid until Aug. 31. The cost is $10.
