Mission dinner fundraiser slated

The Nikiski Nazarene Mission team will host an international dinner fundraiser from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center.

Proceeds will be split between the mission team trip to the Ukraine and the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Tickets are $12 per person and available at the church or from Nenette Rogers at 283-5338.

Caregiver Appreciation Day set

National Family Caregiver Support Group will host Caregiver Appreciation Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center. Twenty agencies and merchants will be represented. Workshops also will be offered on the half hour.

The featured speaker will be Elaine Sanchez, author of the book "Letters from Madelyn, Chronicles of a Caregiver." Sanchez will speak from 1 to 2 p.m. and be available to talk to caregivers throughout the day. Food and prizes are planned.

Ninilchik community meeting scheduled

The Ninilchik Community Forum will hold a meeting at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ninilchik Senior Citizens Center. The topic will be selection of a community project for funding through the Municipal Energy Assistance Program.

Ninilchik will receive $20,000, and projects must be selected by the community through a public process.

Habitat re-opens application period

Central Peninsula Habitat of Humanity has re-opened the application period for a 2007 habitat home. The new home will be ready Dec. 31.

Applications for the 2008 home are open. A family will be selected March 15 and the new home will be ready by Nov. 1, 2008.
