NEW YORK (AP) -- A ''significant'' gold and silver find near the Alaska-Yukon border was announced Wednesday by a mine exploration company.
Officials of North Star Exploration said they are optimistic about early assay results from two of five drill holes at their Northway Project.
North Star President Walter Tyler said the results indicate a 1,200-by-4,000-square-foot target area near the Alaska Highway.
Tyler said it appears that the target area has a high gold and silver content and that the company is awaiting analytical results.
Tyler said the minerals were located by using geologic mapping, a ground magnetic survey and a soil geochemical survey.
North Star is a subsidiary of Hawks Industries.
