Play group offers playing and reading activities
The Read and Run Play Group meets today and each Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Sterling Elementary gym. Parents and their children, up to age 5, may attend. Bake sale planned today

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon meeting today. The Kenai Police Department will provide a speaker to discuss youth detention.
Siren to be tested
The Kenai Peninsula Borough Office of Emergency Management will conduct its monthly alert siren test at noon today. The test consists of the attack and alert tones. It is conducted the first Thursday of each month, except on holidays. For more information, call 262-4910.

Red Cross courses to begin
The Red Cross offers CPR and first aid classes today and Friday from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 5 p.m. Lessons and fees vary. Registration is required. For more information, call 262-4541.

Parenting program offered
The Kenai Peninsula Community Care Center Family Support Program will present a video-based program, "Active Parenting of Teens," from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tonight and every Thursday night for the next three weeks. Swim lessons available
