DULUTH, Minn. Junior Lessard scored two goals and added an assist as Minnesota Duluth skated past Alaska-Anchorage 5-1 in WCHA action Saturday.
Lessard had a hat trick Friday night against the Seawolves and finished the weekend with seven points off five goals and two assists.
The Seawolves and Bulldogs were tied 1-1 in the first period when Beau Geisler scored on a power play goal to put Duluth (4-2-1) ahead for good. The Bulldogs are off to their first 4-0-0 start in the WCHA since the 1989-1990 season and are unbeaten in 24 of their last 27 home games against Anchorage.
Chris Fournier scored the Seawolves' lone goal of the game almost halfway through the first period to tie the game at one apiece. John Hopson and Ales Parez notched assists for Anchorage (3-3-0, 0-2-0)
Friday, Lessard notched the second hat trick of his career to lift Minnesota Duluth past Alaska-Anchorage 8-1.
T.J. Caig and Justin Williams each scored a goal and added an assist for the Bulldogs.
Chris King stopped 40 shots in goal for Anchorage, whose only goal of the game came on a Fournier power-play score with five minutes to play in the third period.
Evan Schwabe scored a goal and added two assists, while Isaac Reimuth and Marco Peluso each racked up two assists for the Bulldogs.
