The Nikiski Senior Citizens Centers bazaar and bake sale will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the center on Island Lake Road.

Graduating senior high school ladies, the deadline for the Alaska Junior Miss scholarship program is Nov. 22.

You can pick up an application packet from your high school counselor or complete the information online by visiting www.alaskajuniormiss.com.

To be eligible, all contestants paperwork must be received no later than Nov. 22.

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area Board congratulates director Karen Kester in receiving the Distinguished Professional Award from the Alaska Recreation and Parks Association held in Juneau on Oct. 7 and 8. This is the highest recognition that Alaska Recreation and Parks Association can bestow upon a deserving candidate.

Kester serves on the board of directors-member at large, is a member of ARPA, has more than 10 years experience in the field of parks and recreation and demonstrates leadership in many areas dealing with parks and recreation.

The 2004-05 NPRSA board members are Peter Mysing, chair; Patty Floyd, vice chair; Paul Lorenzo, Beth Jones and James Price. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

Mary Kennedy said Nikiski residents are invited to "The Uninvited," a play at the Old Town Playhouse (formerly Gary King's), Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m., and Sunday matinee is at 3 p.m.

Tickets are available at M & M Market in Nikiski, Charlotte's, Coffee Roasters and River City Books.

A reminder to save those box tops for education and Campbell Soup labels for the Nikiski North Star Elementary School's Dare to Dream program. There are drop-off boxes at M & M Market and at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center, along with the elementary school.
