Former Ninilchik resident Mona Jeanne Chapman Anderson died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Wash., after a year and a half struggle with a severe stroke to her brain and seizure complications. She was 48.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at St. Peter the Fisherman Methodist Church in Ninilchik.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Burien, Wash. She moved to Ninilchik in 1992 and married Don Anderson. For seven years she worked at Ninilchik School as a school lunch cashier. Mona attended St. Peter the Fisherman Methodist Church where she was baptized.
"She loved interacting with the kids and they enjoyed her friendly spirit. After her son, Tyler Sahlin, graduated from Ninilchik High School, Don and Mona moved Outside to Auburn, Wash. Mona was gifted with a great sense of humor. She could make us laugh. She was very kind and sweet to all. Mona never asked for much, always thankful for what she had. She will always be remembered as a gentle soul. We will miss her so much," her family said.
She is survived by her husband of Auburn; son, of 29 Palms, Calif.; four grandchildren; stepson, Adam Anderson; brother, Douglas Chapman of Seattle; sisters, Monica Vanek and Martesue Chapman of Ninilchik.
Arrangements were made by Cady Crematorium in Washington.
