Borough schedules meetings for plan update
The Kenai Peninsula Borough will hold a series of public meetings to identify local and boroughwide issues that should be addressed in its updated comprehensive plan. Meetings are scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cooper Landing Community Hall; from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Moose Pass Community Hall; and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ninilchik Senior Citizens Center.

LIO teleconferences set
The Kenai Legislative Information Office will hold the following teleconferences at its office at 145 Main Street Loop: The Joint Health and Social Services Committees will hold a public hearing on Restructuring the Department of Health and Social Services Agencies at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Boys and Girls Club to offer dance classes
The Boys and Girls Club will offer a music and movement class, as well as two ballet classes. All classes will meet Saturday mornings, except for holidays, beginning Nov. 15 at the club in the karate-dance room. Classes are open to boys and girls. Help for home day-care providers available
Home day-care providers who live in the central Kenai Peninsula area could qualify to be reimbursed for part of the cost of food served. For more information, call the Child Care Food Program at 283-4707.
Banquet, auction planned
The Friends of the NRA will hold a banquet and auction at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 22 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. Dinner will be catered. Proceeds will benefit individuals and groups to teach firearm safety. For more information, call Scott Hamann at 776-7676 or 283-4481.
Holiday nutrition classes offered
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Services will offer a six-week series of holiday nutrition classes Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Nov. 11 at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Colleen Deal will teach classes on how to prepare holiday gifts and foods, including appetizers, drinks, salads, breads, main dishes and desserts. For more information, call 262-3111.
