Volunteers are needed to mentor students in the Aspirations advocates mentorship program. Aspirations advocates act as an adult friend to one to three students, provide a positive role model, help students set goals and more. Mentors meet with students one hour a week in the school and also meet for training once a month with the school's Aspirations coordinator. An informational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday in the library. Call Mark Manuel, school counselor, at 283-4896 or 283-1726 for more information.

The annual sixth-grade swag fund-raiser will begin soon. The class would appreciate help from the parents. Interested parents can call the school at 283-4896 to sign up to help in November.

Donna Peterson, superintendent of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, is planning a visit to the school Dec. 7. She will observe classroom activities and meet with staff. An hour has been set aside as a time for parents to meet informally with her from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. in the library. Parents are encourage to attend.

Yearbooks are on sale. The cost is $30. Order forms are available at the office.

A celebration party will be held for students Nov. 10 from 12:52 to 2:27 p.m. Points will be awarded according to students' report card. Guidelines for participating are posted around the school. For more information or questions about whether your student qualifies for the celebration, call the office. A list of activities will be posted in the commons. The students can choose the activities in which to spend their points. Not all activities require points. Parents or guardians interested in volunteering for the activity can call the office at 283-4896.
