Alaska Native and Kenai resident Katherine Frank died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, from injuries in an auto/pedestrian accident on the Kenai Spur Highway near Kenai. She was 56.

Funeral services will be held at St. Akafia Russian Orthodox Church in Tuntutuliak. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Frank was born Apr. 15, 1950, in Tuntutuliak. She lived in Tuntutuliak and was a health aid there. She also lived in Chugiak, Eagle River and Anchorage and was a patient observer at the Alaska Native Medical Center. She was also a postal worker, baby sitter and care taker.

Mrs. Frank was a member of the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church in Kenai and St. Akafia Russian Orthodox Church in Tuntutuliak.

“She was a teacher and student of her family. Kathy was a loving caring person. You couldn’t know Kathy without loving her. She was given a special nickname, “Nannu” by her grandchildren. She was strong willed, loving, forgiving, caring, hardworking, encouraging and a God sent Christian. We will always love and remember our beloved mother and grandmother, Kathy. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, spending time with her grandkids, playing cards and being with friends and family. She loved nature and flowers, especially roses. She also loved playing with her grandkids. She learned and taught the native ways of life, “ her family said.

Mrs. Frank was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Marie Wassilie.

She is survived by her sisters, Anna Andrew and Elena Bunyan, of Tuntutuliak; brother, Michael Wassilie of Anchorage; ex-husband, Wassilie N. Frank of Tuntutuliak; sons, Teddy Frank of Kenai and Willie Frank and his wife, Maryann Frank of Tuntutuliak and David Allison of Kenai; daughters, Veronica Frank and her significant other, Andy Allison of Kenai and Helen Allison of Kenai; grandchildren, Vivian Nagasiak of Bethel, Shanna, Crystal, Trisha, and Rodrick Frank, of Tuntutuliak, Brianna and Adrian Frank of Kenai; and numerous friends and relatives in Kenai, Tuntutuliak, Bethel, Anchorage and the Yukon-Kuskokwim area.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial donations may be sent to Veronica Frank, P.O. Box 1797, Kenai, AK 99611 or P.O. Box 8133, Tuntutuliak, AK 99680.
