Created by Harry and Lisa Cotler, owners of Foot Flare & Wear located in Soldotna, the annual breast cancer awareness and fundraising event called "Support the Twins for Life" was a great success."October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and last year Lisa and I wanted to do something in honor of my mother who is a breast cancer survivor. So we started the "Support the Twins for Life" event, and had a tremendous turnout from the community. And this year we worked to make the event bigger and better than last year," said Dr. Cotler DPM.Many community vendors pitched in with raffle and prize items to support the event, but the most popular item in keeping with the Think Pink for a cure theme were the pink "Support the Twins for Life" t-shirts." You're seeing them all over town now, not just on our staff. There was a limited supply and we'll continue to offer them here at the store until they're gone with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Fund. Additionally Lisa made a hand crafted necklace utilizing the breast cancer insignia in the design of floating crystal beads. We sold those through the end of the month with all proceeds also going to the Komen Fund.
Additionally during the event, the Cotler's created a special Foot Flare 'N' Wear URL site where visitors could go directly on line to make contributions to the Susan G. Komen Fund in the name of the Foot Flare 'N' Wear "Support the Twins for Life" team. The team's goal was $2,000 and they will continue to work toward that goal through November. "We are just so appreciative of everyone that turned out to support this community event and we are looking forward to doing it again next year," said Cotler.
