Members of the Kenai fire and police departments carry Donald Eide Jr. to a waiting ambulance following an accident Tuesday morning at Mile 8 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Alaska State Troopers identified the victim as Rylene Oskolkoff.

Troopers said the collision occurred shortly after 11 a.m. near Mile 8 of the highway.

According to investigators, a silver Dodge van, driven by 76-year-old Ronald Malston, of Kenai, was heading toward Soldotna when a white Suzuki sport utility vehicle traveling the opposite direction went into his lane. Malston's vehicle T-boned the SUV.

The driver of the SUV was identified as Donald Eide Jr., 43, of Kenai. Oskolkoff was a passenger in the SUV.

Both Malston and Eide were treated for injuries at Central Peninsula Hospital.

The Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. Investigators kept the highway closed until late Tuesday afternoon. The highway was extremely slick Tuesday morning after the season's first snowfall on the central Kenai Peninsula.
