Earl and Joan Miller of Soldotna celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 23 at Soldotna First Assembly Church.
The Millers met 52 years ago. They were introduced by mutual friends and dated for two years before getting married Sept. 21, 1951.
At the anniversary celebration, Earl gave timely advice on how to stay happily married for 50 years: Do whatever she says.
Joan shared stories of her first impressions of Earl and how they made ends meet in the early years.
Earl wore his National Guard uniform. He retired from the guard as a command sergeant major after 43 years of service.
The party was hosted and organized by Terrell Brewer and was attended by many friends, including Mike and Donna Pierce of Ephrata, Wash. The party was decorated with photos and mementos of the Millers' years together, as well as Joan's prize-winning quilts.
