Police release name of pedestrian killed in Anchorage

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Police have released the name of a pedestrian who was killed in an apparent hit-and-run accident in Anchorage over the weekend.

Ida Sheldon, 40, of Anchorage was struck by a Ford Expedition Saturday night as she tried to cross the Seward Highway in the midtown area. Police said Sheldon was wearing dark clothing.

The sport utility vehicle left the scene but witnesses recorded the license number.

Police said no charges have been filed against the driver.
