At the recent site council meeting, Joy Skjold was officially seated. Skjold was elected to replace Gary Ramsell, who stepped down after serving a three-year term, the final two as the council president.

Winners of the pumpkin decorating contest during the Halloween Carnival last week were: Dalton Pearson, first; Annie Worsfold, second; and Shaelyn VanMeter, third, kindergarten through third grade; and Shelby Dykstra, first place, Cassie Sheridan and Dawson Pearson, tied for second, Cameron Harvey, third, fourth through sixth grade. The first-place winners will receive a ride in the ceremonial start of the Tustumena 200 later this winter.

Ms. Knobf's class will visit the Anchorage Museum of Art and History to view the T-Rex exhibit and the Alaskan History exhibits, which coincide with their current units in science and social studies.

The next Title I family event is today at 4 p.m. in the Title I Room. Ms. VanDerWege will present reading strategies for successful at home reading. Refreshments and free books will be provided.

The staff and students welcome Jennifer Kindred as the new resource room instructor. Kindred replaces Fran Stetson.
