Post traumatic stress on agenda

Central Peninsula Counseling Services continues its free series of resiliency building classes. The next class, “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, the signs and symptoms” will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Redoubt Room at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. Historical society plans events

The Kasilof Regional Historical Association hosts work parties to help restore historic cabins at 10 a.m. Wednesdays at the McLane Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Participants are asked to bring a lunch. For more information on work parties, call Gary Titus 262-5410.

The group also will host an auction at 7 p.m. Friday at Tustumena Elementary School, Mile 112 of the Sterling Highway. Items for auction may be viewed at 6 p.m. Items include moose and sheep horn carvings, tools, household goods, electronics, sporting goods, a rifle and antiques. Dinner theater set

The Kenai Peninsula State Fair will host a dinner theater performance at 7 p.m. Friday at the fairgrounds in Ninilchik. Ticket prices are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. For more information on the menu, play or to make a reservation, call (907) 567-3670. Family packages also are available.

Coed basketball planned

The Boys and Girls Club of the Kenai Peninsula is accepting third- and fourth-grade coed basketball registrations until Friday. Practices begin Jan. 2 with games beginning Jan. 15. The season will end Feb. 17.

Christmas bazaar set to sale

The Sterling Senior Center will host a Christmas bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the center. Vendor and handcrafted items, as well as baked goods, will be available for purchase. Table space is available for rent for $25. For more information, call 262-2943 or 262-6808.

SoHi craft fair planned

Soldotna High School will hold its annual craft fair from 10 am. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 12.

Kayaking, water safety classes slated

An introductory, intermediate and sea kayak safety and rescue class will begin Saturday at the Soldotna High School swimming pool.

Registration also is being taken for a water safety instructor class on Saturday. Participants must be at least 16 years old.

Class sizes are limited and preregistration is required by Nov. 10 for both classes.

Developmental screenings available

Frontier Community Services Early Intervention and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will hold developmental screenings for children ages birth to 5 years from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Frontier Community Services on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Vision and hearing tests also will be available.

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank board of directors will meet Nov. 14.
