Flu vaccine now available
The Homer Public Health Department will have flu vaccine available Tuesday and every Tuesday and Thursday, except Thanksgiving, during November between 1 and 5:30 p.m. Cost is $6.

Safety course to be held for seniors
An American Association of Retired Persons 55 Alive driver safety class will be Tuesday and Wednesday at the Soldotna Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a lunch break at noon. Anyone age 50 or older may sign up at the senior center today.
Upon the completion of a certificate, students may receive a discount credit from their insurance company. Cost is $10.

Registration for elementary basketball planned
Registration for the Boys and Girls Club third- and fourth-grade basketball league is Wednesday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Kenai Boys and Girls Club. The season runs from Jan. 2 to Feb. 10. Faxed and mailed registrations will be acceptable but must be accompanied by payment whether credit card or check. The basketball fee is $46 by Friday and $56 after.
All participants must be Boys and Girls Club members. The calendar year membership is $20. For more information, call the club at 283-2683.
Chamber to hold weekly meeting
The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will have its weekly meeting at Paradisos Restaurant at noon Wednesday. Guest speaker will be Christian Samlaska, volunteer recruitment coordinator of the 2001 Special Olympics World Winter Games Alaska.
Public nurse to travel to schools

Self-help meeting at hospital slated
There will be a multiple sclerosis self-help meeting at the Central Peninsula General Hospital in room 3 from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. The meeting will be given by Mary Draper, representative of Berlax Labs.

Head Start meeting planned in Sterling
Head Start will hold a public meeting at Sterling Elementary on Thursday on its preschool program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a free spaghetti dinner served and activities planned for children.
