Kenai Peninsula resident Leah Rachael Ragsdale died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Heritage Place in Soldotna. She was 82.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Place. Mrs. Ragsdale will be buried next to her husband at Riverside Cemetery in Long Beach, Calif.
Mrs. Ragsdale was born Leah Rachael Davis on May 31, 1920, in Ames, Iowa. She and her husband, "Bud," moved to Long Beach, where they lived for 50 years. In 1999, she moved to Kasilof to live with her niece, Jeannie St. George, and husband, Carl.
In 2001, following a stroke, Mrs. Ragsdale moved to Heritage Place, where she became part of a large and loving family.
"She enjoyed reading and was quite a spitfire with a sense of humor. Many will miss her," her family said.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis "Bud" Ragsdale, and sister, Bonnie J. Banks.
She is survived by her nieces, Karen R. Patterson and Sherry L. Hayes, both of Sacramento, Calif., Jeannie St. George of Kasilof, and Cindie A. Fitzpatrick of Tacoma, Wash.; seven great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
