Former Soldotna resident Myrtle Lee Hadden died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, in Globe, Ariz., from lung cancer. She was 73.

Services were held Saturday, Nov. 1, at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe.

Mrs. Hadden was born on Dec. 19, 1929, in Buda, Texas, to Lily and Wesley Kennedy. She was the second of six children. The family moved to Missouri when she was very young. They later moved to Canyon City, Colo., where they lived until 1944, then they moved to Silverton, Colo.

In Silverton, she met and married Lynn Hadden. They lived in the Four Corners area of New Mexico until they moved to Alaska in 1969. In 2002, the Haddens moved to Globe.

The couple had five children Daniel, James, Lynn Jr., known to all as "Mike," Lowell and Cindy.

Mrs. Hadden had many hobbies and talents. Her favorites were listening to country music, hunting, fishing, camping, crocheting, sewing, quilting, gardening and photography. She loved history, especially the Civil War era. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"Myrtle had a great love of life. Her love and knowledge of her genealogy was phenomenal. She could remember dates and people, which constantly amazed her family. She loved the church and the Lord. Her greatest accomplishment though, was her family. She was loved by her family and will be greatly missed," her family said.

Mrs. Hadden was preceded in death by her sons, James, who was stillborn, and Mike, who died in a boating accident at Deep Creek in 1986.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn Hadden, of Globe; sons, Daniel Hadden and wife, Lucille, of Kenai and Lowell Hadden and wife, Liz, of Houston; daughter, Cindy and husband, Royce Tivnan, of Waldorf, Md.; grandsons, Eric and wife, Jennifer, Nathan Tivnan and Chris Endsley and wife, Shelly; granddaughters Sheila, Stephanie, Angela, Melissa and husband, Aaron Parker, Julie Hadden, Crystal and husband, Bryan Lewis, Toni and husband, Josh Barney, Jamie and husband, Jake Rupert, and Ranee Hadden; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and many in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends.
