Former Soldotna resident Marie Alicia Scouler died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at the Sun Health Hospice in Sun City West, Ariz. She was 81.
Interment will be at Forest Park Funeral Homes Cemeteries in Houston. Details for a local memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Mrs. Scouler was born March 15, 1922, in Monroe, La. She was raised and educated in Heber Springs, Ark., and attended the University of Arkansas for three years.
A 47-year Alaska resident, Mrs. Scouler lived in Anchorage from 1956 to 1977 and in Soldotna from 1977 to 2003. She was a national registered parliamentarian and taught parliamentary law at the University of Alaska Anchorage in the late 1970s.
She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 8 in Anchorage and Past Worthy Matron of Star of the North Chapter 17 in Soldotna. She also was an active member of Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of North America and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
"Marie touched many lives in different ways, and she will always live in our hearts and memories," her family said.
Mrs. Scouler was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Rainey, who died fighting in Vietnam in 1971.
She is survived by her husband, Allen B. Scouler of Soldotna and Sun City West; daughters, Rita Stuckart of Anchorage and Linda Ferguson of Spokane, Wash.; sons, Gary Hanna of Houston and Richard Scouler of Salt Lake City; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Best Funeral Services Inc. in Peoria, Ariz.
