Soroptimists meet today

The Soroptimist International of Twin Cities will holds its monthly business meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at the Peninsula Christian Center at the corner of Farnsworth and Cohoe in Soldotna. For more information, call Brenda Northup at 260-6014.

Food donation earns cable discount

GCI will offer discounted installation rates for new cable customers who donate at least two cans of food for the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. The food drive will continue through November. Suggested food items include pumpkin, fruit, soups, chicken broth, flour and sugar.

Craft bazaar, auction scheduled

The Peninsula Take-A-Break invites women to its annual craft bazaar and auction from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 19 at Solid Rock Conference Center. Brunch will cost $7, and free child care will be available. Janice Mathers, a Toastmaster International award winner, will be the featured speaker. Emily Grossman will provide fiddle music.

Volunteers sought for air quality research

Wisdom and Associates Inc. has been awarded a grant from the Cold Climate Housing Research Center in Fairbanks to study indoor air quality problems in homes on the Kenai Peninsula.

The purpose of the study is to find the root cause of indoor air quality problems, such as ventilation, moisture, radon and combustion air problems. For more information or to participate in the study, call 283-0629.
