The Nikiski hockey team dropped a Greatland Conference game to Kenny Lake 3-2 on Friday in Wasilla.
The Bulldogs are now 0-1 in the conference and 0-2 overall.
Coach Irv Smith said his squad did a good job considering its numbers nine skaters and two goalies and the fact that it is early in the season.
Matt Hanley tied the game at 1 in the first period with an unassisted goal for Nikiski. In the second period, Kenny Lake again took the lead, but Paul Delago scored on assists from Hanley and Steve Hyatt. Kenny Lake took the lead for good later in the second period.
Sam Zulkanycz had 26 saves for Nikiski. The Bulldogs had 19 shots on goal.
In other weekend hockey action on the road, Homer lost to Eagle River 5-1 on Friday and to West High of Anchorage 5-0 on Saturday.
