SITKA (AP) -- A mouse that got behind power distribution panels at the Blue Lake powerhouse caused a two-hour power outage that led to a second outage.
The first power outage occurred early Sunday morning, said Electric Superintendent Randy Cornelius. The second, two-hour outage occurred Sunday afternoon while permanent repairs were being made after the first outage.
Two electric department workers were injured in the second outage, which occurred when workers accidentally grounded a live wire, Cornelius said. One worker was treated for burns to his hands, and a second was examined for possible eye injuries. Both were treated and released from Sitka Community Hospital.
Cornelius said efforts will be made to keep rodents out of the powerhouse.
