Former Kenai resident Joseph E. Wilson died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at his home in Arkansas, of massive heart failure. He was 69.
Mr. Wilson was born in 1931. He served in the U.S. Navy, and then homesteaded in Kenai with his wife, Ione. He helped to survey and map coastal Alaska and worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, building the Distant Early Warning Line through Canada to Alaska during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Ione L. Wilson.
He is survived by his son Tim Wilson; son and daughter-in-law Sean and Kim Wilson; daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Gene Bock; and granddaughter, Samantha Ione Wilson, all of Kenai.
Arrangements were made by the Beasley-Wood Funeral Home in Mena, Ark.
