Senior center to host benefit dinner

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will host a benefit dinner to help raise money for medical expenses for Bruce Aitken, senior center driver. He had emergency surgery and does not have medical insurance. There will be a Mexican feast at 7 p.m. Friday at the senior center. The dinner costs $7 per person. Traditional Norwegian dinner planned

Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna will host its annual lutefisk and lefse dinner Saturday from 5 until 7 p.m. Donations accepted at the door. For more information, call 262-4757.

Children's association to hold meetings

The Kenai Association for the Education of Young Children will meet at 7 p.m. the second Monday of each month in room 206 B at the Kenai Peninsula Community College. The primary goal is to guarantee the provision of high quality early childhood programs for young children. The association invites parents, teachers, child-care providers and any others interested in the care and education of young children. This Monday's meeting will focus on fall art activities for young children and developmental discipline. Bring craft ideas. Refreshments will be provided. Well test kits available

Due to recent flooding, area water wells may have been contaminated. Residents affected by the flooding who believe their well may have been contaminated can contact Northern Test Lab at 262-4624 to obtain a kit. The Kenai Peninsula Borough will reimburse the lab for the cost of the test.
