A Wasilla couple were killed in a head-on collision with a semi-truck on the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski Saturday.
According to Beth Ipsen, Alaska State Troopers spokesperson, the victims were identified as Paul J. Trissell, 68 and his wife Pamela A. Trissell, 55.
The collision occurred at about 10:16 a.m. near mile 18 of the highway.
According to Ipsen, Paul Trissell was driving a 2000 Honda CRV southbound on the highway with his wife as a passenger when a Peterbilt semi-truck without trailers heading north crossed the centerline and crashed into the small SUV. Paul Trissell died on scene.
Pamela Trissell was taken to Central Peninsula Hospital and pronounced dead at 12:48 p.m.
The truck's driver, Clifford Henderson, 35, of Anchorage, sustained no injuries.
Ipsen said the Trissells were in Nikiski for a church event. They had pulled out of the church parking lot and driven 200 to 300 feet when the crash occurred.
The investigation by the troopers' Bureau of Highway Patrol and state commercial vehicle enforcement is ongoing.
