Kwietniak reports for duty

Marine Corps Pvt. Stephen M. Kwietniak recently reported for duty with the Marine Detachment in Fort Meade, Md.

He is the son of Valerie V. Kwietniak and John W. Kwietniak of Kenai.

Kwietniak joined the Marine Corps in February.

Rahlfs places in speech competition

Former Kenai resident Aaron Rahlfs recently competed with the South Dakota State University speech and debate team at the Jackrabbit Joust at the school.

He placed 14th in impromptu speaking, fourth in speaker awards and received a bronze award with his partner.

Rahlfs is a senior communication studies and theater major.

He is the son of Sherrie Rahlfs.

Rhyner makes dean's list

Former Kenai resident Tessa Rhyner was named to the dean's list at Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis. To be named to the list, a student must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Rhyner is majoring in elementary education.

She is the daughter of Tom and Mary Rhyner of Kenai and a 2000 graduate of Kenai Central High School.
