KETCHIKAN (AP) -- The Cape Fox Lodge here has signed a management and franchise agreement with WestCoast Hospitality Corp. of Spokane.
The hotel will begin operating as the WestCoast Cape Fox Lodge beginning Jan. 1. That will make it the second WestCoast Hotel in Alaska, joining the WestCoast International Inn in Anchorage.
The WestCoast Cape Fox Lodge is owned by Cape Fox Corporation, a village Native corporation. Another Native corporation, Tanadgusix or TDX, owns the WestCoast International Inn at Anchorage.
WestCoast Hospitality Corp. owns, manages and franchises hotels in nine western states.
''We are very happy to announce our new agreement with WestCoast Hospitality Corporation,'' said Peter Gigante, Cape Fox chief executive officer.
''Their presence in the Northwest and their focus on moving customers from property to property is appealing,'' Gigante said in a prepared statement. ''They offer an expanded marketing program that we believe can be used to increase the visibility of our property and increase off-season occupancy.''
